Impacts of a political employee demonstration on Friday 18 September

Impacts of a political employee demonstration on Friday 18 September

Many labor unions in Finland join together in a demonstration on Friday 18 September in order to protest against government´s recent politics and plans to reduce costs. Transport and logistics is affected by a work stoppage organized by Transport Workers’ Union (AKT) aiming at shutting down all land, ocean and air transportations for the whole day. The most critical stoppages within our industry are listed below:
• drivers on Friday 6 am - 6pm
• terminals on Friday 6 am - 10pm
• harbors on Friday 6 am - Saturday 6 am
We ask our customers to be prepared for delays and interferences in our services. We will operate with limited capacity during the work stoppages and thus we regret to inform that we cannot guarantee normal delivery schedules on Friday. We will face challenges in our transportations in homeland as well as in imports and exports. We will also need to cancel our regular routes and operations in Helsinki city center on Friday due to expected traffic jams caused by demonstrations.
It is also very likely that Friday´s work stoppages increase volumes already on Wednesday and Thursday affecting our terminals and transport network both in Finland and overseas.
