Hurricane Florence, Threat to Carolinas and Virgina

Hurricane Florence continues to be a dangerous Category 4 storm as it heads toward the East Coast with an expected arrival on Friday morning.

As of today we have been notified by the following closures or possible closures, but we will know more in the next 24 hrs.

South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia declared states of emergency to get evacuations under way where necessary and better position relief resources where needed.

Virginia’s port truck gates RE-OPEN at all six Port of Virginia cargo terminals, observe normal/posted operating hours. No TRS reservation needed, no empty reefer movement in or out on NIT.

Port of Charleston SC has normal operation today and expected to close Thursday through Saturday.

NC Ports' terminals in Wilmington and Morehead City are CLOSED to commercial truck traffic Wednesday. No access of any kind will be permitted at either Port facility as of 12:00 am Thursday, September 13 through Saturday, September 15.

Norfolk Southern Railway stopped accepting intermodal shipments at all origin locations destined to Norfolk (Portlock), Norfolk International Terminal, and Virginia Inland Gateway, effective 06:00 PM on September 10th.
